Windwave is a sculpture inspired by the graceful, enveloping, and curving shapes of tidal movements and currents. The sculpture was created to capture a momentary snapshot depicting the fluidity and inner strength of a wave, which is seemingly frozen at a moment in time. Unless photographed with a high-speed lens, viewers would be unable to capture the beauty and intensity of the various, intricate components of a tidal wave. My intention was to create an artwork that emulated a tidal movement’s naturally flowing curves and organic shapes into a solid form that would also allow the public an opportunity to interact with and contemplate the power and beauty of a vibrant element within our natural environment. The viewers have access to move into and through the sculpture, allowing them to experience and interact with it in a personalized way.
